Christmas In Dixie by Alabama
November 27, 2007There was a time when everyone did a Christmas album–everyone. I can honestly say that Alabama’s Christmas album is one of my all time favorites. Christmas in Dixie was the biggest hit, but Tennessee Christmas was a favorite as well. The thing that sets this album apart from most other Christmas albums is that it is made up almost exclusively of original material instead of the old standards.
The fact that Alabama took took the time to compose new songs for the album says a lot about it. I always got the feeling from most Christmas albums that the artist(s) came in to the studio and knocked out a bunch of songs in one day. I don’t think that’s the case here–a must have Christmas album for any classic country music fan.
This post is part of a series called Twelve Days of Classic Country Christmas.
