Yep, the King of Rock and Roll has one of my all time Classic Country Christmas songs. Actually, a lot of Elvis’s influences were very country, and some of his biggest songs were written by country legends like Jerry Reed and Mac Davis. Plus I remember my grandmother, a die hard country fan, was a big Elvis fan as well. As long as she would approve, it’s okay with me.

My favorite thing about “Blue Christmas” is the background vocals. They are so bluesy and sad, and also very unique. Of course, Elvis himself sings his heart out on this track. I remember when I was a kid, I imagined him sitting at Graceland all by himself singing this song. Of course, there was snow on the ground in my imagination, so he was having a Blue Christmas and a White Christmas at the same time, but still…
