The opening lines of this song set the stage for the rest of if. You know exactly what this song is going to be about from the get go. Imagine Cousin Eddy from Christmas Vacation. Now imagine that the entire family is like that. Actually, you may not have to imagine. This may actually be very close to your family. Not casting stones here, it hits pretty close to home for me too.

I’ve actually heard this song so many times that I’m almost tired of it…nah. The great thing about this Christmas song is that it is great to listen to all year round. Every time you see Robert Earl Keen in concert he plays it, and it turns up on his live albums as well.
