It’s been happening to me a lot lately that I hear a song I’d completely forgotten about.  Usually it’s something that I’d never remember in a million years if someone else didn’t play it for me.  It’s happening mostly when listening to the America station on XM radio.  The other day I heard Johnny Lee’s “Rolling Lonely”, and I couldn’t believe that I still remembered most of the words.  Even better, this was a live version off of the Live at Billy Bob’s Texas album.  I’d never heard that version, and didn’t know the album existed.  It’s great!  But now I can’t get this song out of my head.

Eighteen wheels are screamin’ out your name
I’m movin’ like lightning through the pourin’ rain
Rollin’ Lonely, all the way to Memphis tonight

I think I spend a little too much time listening to my favorite mixes of music I already own and not enough time listening to other stuff, like America or WDVX–a local station that plays lots of good classic country, bluegrass, and Americana
