I Believe In You Is Timeless
October 20, 2007“I Believe in You” has always been one of my favorite Don Williams songs for lots of reasons. I love the little guitar run at the beginning, and I love the message. This is one of the best classic country songs you could ever play at a wedding. It’s nice and slow, so you can dance to it, and just about everybody who knows it would think it’s a cool choice. For people who have never heard it before, I’m guessing it would be pretty infectious. Better than all of that–I’m guessing not many people use it.
I also love the bridge, which has one of the best lines in any Don Williams song
I know with all my certainty
What’s goin’ on with you and me is a good thing
Last night a friend pointed out to me how timeless this song is. Even though it was written over 25 years ago, it mentions lots of things that you hear about all the time today–organic food, foreign cars, right vs. left, gasoline in short supply, the rising cost of getting by.
