The Cape
September 18, 2007I heard another good song today that I haven’t heard in a long time–The Cape, by Guy Clark. If you haven’t heard Steve Earl, Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark Together at the Bluebird Cafe, it is a must have…buy it today. The stories these guys tell alone are worth the price of admission. The music just makes it that much better.
Anyway, The Cape is one of those songs that I knew I was really going to love the very first time I heard it. It is almost a little bit of a sad song, but at the same time it’s very inspiring. Basically, the message is to just believe in yourself, even if it means you’re going to fail and get some bumps and bruises.
He’s one of those who knows that life is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms, hold your breath, and always trust your cape.
