Johnny Cash — Like a Soldier

I heard this song on my way to work this morning. I love it when I hear a song that I’d completely forgotten about but love. It’s like hearing it for the first time all over again. As I was listening to it, it sounds like something Kris Kristofferson would write, but from everything I’ve looked up on the web, Johnny Cash actually wrote it. It has some really great lyrics, and as good of a songwriter as Johnny Cash was, I think this one is pretty well written for him.

There were nights I don’t remember
And there’s pain that I’ve forgotten
Other things I choose not to recall
