Clint Black — Killin’ Time

June 20, 2007

I consdider this one of the last great country albums.  It came out in 1989 and is loaded with good songs.  The title cut, “Better Man” (maybe the best breakup song of all time), “Walkin’ Away”, “Nobody’s Home” are incredible songs.  Even better is the fact that Clint Black wrote or co-wrote every song on this album.  I’ve always had huge respect for the artists that can write, sing, and play.  Lots of people consider Clint Black as pop-country, and it is hard to argue that with some of his later releases, but this album is REAL country.  Notice there aren’t any cute little puns or story songs with obvious twists that are supposed to be ironic.

I was mowing yards in Green Hills during the summer of 1990 and can remember listening to this album on a continuous loop while driving around in the truck.  Mark Wright, one of the albums producers, was one of our clients, and I even got a chance to tell him how much I was enjoying it.
