Black Sheep of the Family — John Anderson

John Anderson is probably better know for “Swingin’” than any other of his many hits, and there are several.  He’s another one of those guys who you don’t realize how many hits he’s had until you see him live or get a Greatest Hits album.   But my favorite is “Black Sheep of the Family”, mostly because of the ending line of the chorus:

Wake me up early, be good to my dogs, and teach my children to pray.

That nasally twang he has is truly an original thing in country music, which is notorious for twangy nasally voices.  The way he says “pray” cracks me up every time I hear it.
