Glen Campbell Good Time Hour
June 5, 2007A couple of years ago I was flipping through channels one night and ran across an old episode of the the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour. It was just coming on, so I just waited to see who was going to be on. Here was the lineup of guests for a single episode: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Jerry Reed, and of course, Glen Campbell.
This wasn’t a T.V. special, this was just one episode of the show! The variety show is pretty much a thing of the past now, but I wonder what the lineup would be if say, Toby Keith had a variety show today. I’m sure there would be some pretty big stars on the show, but how many of the people that would be guests today will still be stars 25 or 30 years from now?
I guess what I’m getting at is that country music isn’t producting legends anymore. It is all about young, fresh faces. On this episode of the Glen Campbell show there were four legends!

You hit this one on the head! We have a Grand Ole Opry with Trace Adkins
and Dierks Bentley. Think anyone will remember Mr. Honkytonk Badonkidonk (
(I probably didn’t spell that right) in 20 years?
Ugh! That crap makes me sick. People who listen to country music shouldn’t even know what Badonkidonk is.
