Ed Bruce Had So Many Good Songs

“When You Fall in Love Everything’s a Waltz” is playing right now on my mix. I’d forgotten how many good songs Ed Bruce had! And they were all really original too. “Girls, Women, and Ladies” and “You’re the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had” are my two other favorites. “My First Taste of Texas” has to be my favorite.

Most people don’t realize that Ed Bruce wrote “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys”. Most people assume that Willie Nelson and/or Waylon Jennings wrote it. It is always surprising to find out that great songwriters often have their biggest hits written by someone else.

Ed Bruce has a really great voice. There’s a “new” old country guy named Dale Watson that sort of reminds me of him.
