Chugalug!

Roger Miller’s “Chugalug” just came on my mix while I was working. I think this may be the only country song–maybe the only song period–that uses the word “finagling”. Yes, I had to look that word up to spell it correctly.

I’m just going on sixteen

But with the help of my finagalin’ uncle I get snuck in

I can see where some people would think his songs are a little corny, but I think they are actually pretty deep. I’ve seen several websites that list funny songs on them, and “You Can’t Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd” is always listed. Sure, it sounds a little goofy, but the point of the song is that there are lots of things you can’t do, “but you can be happy if you’ve a mind to.”

How true.
