Hal Ketchum – Underated

by Scott on September 8, 2011

Hal Ketchum’s “Five O’Clock World” showed up on one of my Pandora stations last night, and I was reminded how much I dig this guy. Very subtle, very smooth voice, and very¬†underrated. I know that “Small Town Saturday Night” is probably his best known and most successful radio hit, but I’m very partial to “Past The Point of Rescue“. Actually, that whole album is bad aise.

The days like a slow train trickle by
And even the words that I write refuse to fly
All I can hear is your song haunting me
Can’t get the melody out of my head, you see

And check out this great version of “Past The Point of Rescue” by Mary Black
